Hi, everybody! It’s me, Chris Russo, Who Draws! Welcome to my new blog!
With Tumblr being pretty much dead, and Medium’s UI being tedious, difficult to use, and more difficult to follow, I’ve been hoping for a new blogging platform to come along and give me a new space to share art besides my Twitter and Instagram, which I like okay, but aren’t a great place for artists unless you’re constantly updating. Then I realized Squarespace had a blogging feature! How convenient! And so, here we are. I’m not sure if I’ll keep this blog up or not yet - I’m still a little iffy about Squarespace’s UI, but for now, it’ll do!
And what better for my first post than my annual pop music comics?
So, if you’ve talked to me for, oh, ten minutes or longer, you probably know that I really enjoy pop music. I like following the Billboard charts, I like the way pop music acts as a barometer for cultural trends, I like watching big stars and up-and-comers try to navigate the entertainment industry. It’s fun for me! Even the music (which, let’s be real, is the majority of pop music) nobody actually likes, because what’s more fun than dunking on that?
This year took much longer, since I got a little ambitious and decided to turn the comic into a 40-page epic. It was way more work than I probably should have spent on it, but I’m pretty happy with how it came out. So join me, won’t you, in ranking the best and worst pop songs of 2018.
(All opinions my own, and I don’t begrudge anyone for not sharing them!)
